Eastern Venice is included in the wine-making areas of DOC Lison Pramaggiore, DOC Piave, DOC Venezia and DOC Prosecco. The DOC (Controlled designation of origin) is given to wines featuring specific characteristics indicated by strict production regulations which take into account the connection with the natural environment and human factors of the territory. Veneto is one of Italy’s main wine-making regions. Wine consumption along with typical products and local dishes is very rooted in the territory. Even in Eastern Venice on can talk about a true culture of wine. Wine is tasted while eating but also in wine bars and in the typical cichetterie, the local taverns, that offer so-called cicheti, small portions of local dishes, to accompany the ombrette (wine goblets).
